Commercial Construction Assistant Superintendent


Our client is a leader in the commercial construction industry, renowned for delivering high-quality projects on time and within budget. They are are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Commercial Construction Assistant Superintendent to join their team.


Job Overview: The Commercial Construction Assistant Superintendent supports the Superintendent in overseeing construction projects from start to finish. This role is crucial for ensuring that projects are completed safely, on time, and to the highest quality standards. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of commercial construction processes, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to manage subcontractors and materials effectively.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Oversight: Assist the Superintendent in managing day-to-day operations on the construction site, ensuring adherence to project plans, schedules, and specifications.
  • Safety Compliance: Promote and enforce safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe work environment. Conduct regular safety inspections and ensure compliance with OSHA regulations.
  • Team Coordination: Coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers, and construction crews to ensure timely delivery of materials and efficient project execution. Resolve any issues that arise on-site promptly.
  • Quality Control: Monitor work quality and workmanship to ensure that all construction activities meet company and industry standards. Address any defects or issues with corrective actions.
  • Scheduling: Assist in developing and managing project schedules, including coordinating tasks and resources to minimize delays and ensure project milestones are achieved.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate project records, including daily reports, change orders, and inspection reports. Ensure all documentation is up-to-date and properly filed.
  • Communication: Serve as a point of contact between the Superintendent, project team, and clients. Provide regular updates on project status and address any concerns or questions.
  • Problem-Solving: Identify potential project issues and develop solutions to mitigate risks and ensure successful project completion.

Qualifications:

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate s or Bachelor s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in commercial construction, with at least 1-2 years in a supervisory or assistant role.
  • Skills: Strong knowledge of construction processes, safety standards, and project management techniques. Proficient in using construction management software and tools.
  • Certifications: OSHA certification preferred; additional certifications related to construction safety or management a plus.
  • Personal Attributes: Excellent leadership and communication skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
