Manufacturing EHS Manager


** REQUIRED - CHST, ASP, or CSP certification from ASSE with safety experience either in construction or heavy industrial/civil industry **


The Manufacturing Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing environmental, health, and safety programs within the manufacturing facility. This role ensures compliance with regulatory requirements, promotes a safe and healthy work environment, and drives continuous improvement in EHS practices. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in manufacturing environments, regulatory knowledge, and a proactive approach to EHS management.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Regulatory Compliance:
    • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal environmental, health, and safety regulations.
    • Stay updated on EHS regulations and best practices; implement changes as necessary.
  • Program Development and Implementation:
    • Develop, implement, and maintain EHS policies, procedures, and programs.
    • Conduct regular risk assessments and safety audits to identify and mitigate potential hazards.
  • Training and Communication:
    • Design and deliver EHS training programs for employees at all levels.
    • Communicate EHS policies and procedures effectively to all staff members.
  • Incident Management:
    • Oversee the investigation of workplace incidents, accidents, and near-misses.
    • Develop and implement corrective and preventive actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Environmental Management:
    • Monitor and manage waste disposal, pollution control, and other environmental compliance requirements.
    • Ensure proper handling and documentation of hazardous materials.
  • Safety Culture:
    • Promote a culture of safety and environmental responsibility within the organization.
    • Lead safety committees and participate in safety meetings.
  • Record Keeping and Reporting:
    • Maintain accurate records of EHS activities, incidents, and compliance documentation.
    • Prepare and submit required reports to regulatory agencies and senior management.
  • Continuous Improvement:
    • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in EHS practices and procedures.
    • Implement best practices to enhance safety and environmental performance.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, or a related field. Advanced degree or certifications (e.g., CSP, CIH) preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in an EHS role within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Strong knowledge of EHS regulations, standards, and best practices.
  • Proven experience in risk assessment, incident investigation, and regulatory compliance.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in EHS management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
