Manufacturing Materials Engineer
Our client is seeking a highly skilled and innovative Manufacturing Materials Engineer to join their team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in materials science and engineering, with a focus on improving manufacturing processes and product quality. This role involves developing, testing, and implementing new materials and processes to enhance the efficiency, reliability, and sustainability of manufacturing operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Material Development and Selection:
- Research and develop new materials to meet product specifications and performance criteria.
- Evaluate and select appropriate materials for manufacturing processes based on cost, performance, and sustainability considerations.
- Process Optimization:
- Analyze and optimize manufacturing processes to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and ensure product quality.
- Develop and implement process improvements and best practices in materials usage and handling.
- Quality Assurance:
- Collaborate with the Quality Assurance team to ensure materials meet required standards and specifications.
- Conduct failure analysis and implement corrective actions to resolve material-related issues.
- Testing and Analysis:
- Design and conduct experiments to test material properties and performance under various conditions.
- Analyze test data and prepare technical reports to communicate findings and recommendations.
- Supplier Management:
- Evaluate and qualify new suppliers of raw materials and components.
- Work closely with suppliers to resolve material-related issues and improve material quality.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Collaborate with R&D, production, and other departments to ensure seamless integration of new materials and processes.
- Provide technical support and training to manufacturing staff on material-related topics.
- Sustainability Initiatives:
- Develop and implement strategies to reduce the environmental impact of materials used in manufacturing.
- Stay updated on industry trends and advancements in sustainable materials and technologies.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor s degree in Materials Science, Materials Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
- Proven experience in materials engineering within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of material properties, testing methods, and failure analysis.
- Familiarity with manufacturing processes such as casting, molding, extrusion, and additive manufacturing.
- Proficiency in material characterization techniques and tools.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with CAD software and material simulation tools.
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and Six Sigma methodologies.
- Understanding of regulatory standards and compliance requirements related to materials.
