Job Description

Construction Project Engineer


Our client is seeking a talented and motivated Construction Project Engineer to join their team and assist in the planning, coordination, and execution of construction projects. The Construction Project Engineer will work closely with project managers, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and other stakeholders to ensure projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget. This role offers an excellent opportunity for growth and development in the construction industry.


Responsibilities:

  1. Assist in the development and implementation of project plans, schedules, and budgets, ensuring alignment with project goals and objectives.
  2. Coordinate with project managers, subcontractors, and suppliers to procure materials, equipment, and services needed for construction projects, ensuring timely delivery and cost-effective solutions.
  3. Conduct regular site inspections to monitor progress, quality, and safety compliance, identifying and addressing any issues or concerns that may arise.
  4. Assist in the preparation and review of project documentation, including contracts, change orders, RFIs, submittals, and other project-related paperwork, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  5. Collaborate with project teams to solve technical problems, resolve conflicts, and implement best practices to optimize project performance.
  6. Assist in the coordination of subcontractor activities, including scheduling, sequencing, and monitoring work progress to ensure adherence to project schedules and specifications.
  7. Prepare and maintain project reports, logs, and records, tracking project milestones, expenses, and other key metrics to provide regular updates to project stakeholders.
  8. Assist in the management of project budgets, tracking expenses, forecasting costs, and identifying opportunities to improve cost efficiency and minimize risks.
  9. Support the commissioning and closeout of construction projects, including conducting final inspections, obtaining necessary approvals, and facilitating the turnover of completed projects to clients.
  10. Stay informed about industry trends, regulations, and best practices, participating in training and professional development activities to enhance skills and knowledge.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, construction management, or a related field.
  2. 2-5 years of experience in construction project management or engineering, preferably in commercial or industrial construction.
  3. Strong technical aptitude and understanding of construction methods, materials, and techniques.
  4. Proficiency in project management software, such as Procore, Primavera P6, or Microsoft Project, as well as Microsoft Office Suite.
  5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
  6. Detail-oriented with strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
  7. Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  8. Knowledge of building codes, regulations, and permitting processes.
  9. Willingness to travel to project sites and work flexible hours as needed to meet project deadlines.
  10. EIT (Engineer-in-Training) certification or willingness to pursue professional engineering licensure is a plus.
