Job Description

AUTOMATION MACHINE BUILDER

Our client is seeking an experienced Machine Builder in the Automation Industry to fit and assemble components according to assembly drawings, manuals, schematics, sketches, and knowledge of machine construction.

Duties and responsibilities
  • Shop mechanical and electrical build and debug.
  • Shop break down and pack out of custom machines and automation cells for shipment.
  • Maintain shop cleanliness on a daily basis.
  • Organize assembly area for efficient use and work flow.
  • The Machine Builder will primarily work in the shop but may need to go out in the field at times to assist with an installation or service job.

Qualifications/Requirements
  • Assemble manufactured components and purchased material to build the automated systems.
  • Must be accustomed to using hand tools and power tools.
  • Must be familiar with using torque wrenches and proper bolt torque procedures.
  • Must follow proper thread locking practices.
  • Verify conformance/quality of parts during assembly, using measuring instruments, such as calipers, gauges, and micrometers and visual inspection.
  • Identify any assembly issues, conduct analysis to determine root cause, and present the findings to the mechanical engineer and project manager.
  • Must demonstrate attention to detail and finishing.
  • Lay out hole locations and drill and tap holes on parts for assembly as needed.
  • Troubleshoot basic assembly problems and make adjustments in support of machinery debug.
  • Must be able to read mechanical, electrical, pneumatic schematics, bills of material, and various technical manuals as required.
  • Must be able to read detail and assembly drawings and make red line notes and revisions as agreed upon by the mechanical engineer and project manager.
  • Must be able to multitask, prioritize, and show extreme resourcefulness and problem solving skills.
  • Follow all safety requirements and act in a safe manner.
  • Responsible for maintenance and clean-up of work areas.
  • Must exhibit flexibility of work hours to adjust to surge situations based on critical project requirements.
  • Must be able and willing to work overtime as necessary.
  • Must be able to pass a drug test.
  • Must be able to work both independently and within a team environment.
  • Must demonstrate professional behavior at all times when dealing with customers, management and co-workers.
  • Must have clear, concise and accurate communications skills in English (both verbal and written).

Working conditions
  • Office, shop, or customer manufacturing site environment.
  • Ability to sit and work at computer for an extended period of time.
  • May have to walk where floors are slippery at customer sites.
  • Possible weekend, holiday or evening work as needed (but extremely rare).

Physical requirements
Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.

This job can involve sitting or standing for extended periods of time.

The individual must have sufficient mobility, included but not limited to: bending, reaching, turning, kneeling, climbing ladders.

The individual must be able to perform two-handed work.
