Job Description

Automation Service & Installation Technician

Our client is seeking an experienced Automation Service and Installation Technician that will play a crucial role in delivering top-notch service to clients by installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting automated systems.

Duties and responsibilities:
  • Service, repair and preventative maintenance of robotics and peripheral equipment.
  • Shop mechanical and electrical build and debug.
  • Shop break down of custom machines and automation cells for shipment.
  • Onsite layout and installation/commissioning of custom machines and automation cells.
  • Filling out field service reports, preventative maintenance and equipment check in paperwork.

Qualifications/Requirements:
  • Ability to read and understand mechanical, fluid power, and electrical principles and prints.
  • Ability to troubleshoot various types of mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Basic programming knowledge of robotics, PLC controls and other automation equipment.
  • Good customer service skills will be required.
  • Must demonstrate attention to detail and finishing.
  • Must exhibit flexibility of work hours to adjust to surge situations based on critical project or service requirements.
  • Must be able and willing to work overtime as necessary.
  • Must be able to multitask, prioritize, show extreme resourcefulness and problem solving skills and perform well under pressure.
  • Must be able to pass a drug test.
  • Must be able to work both independently and within a team environment.
  • Must be willing to travel. 
  • Must demonstrate professional behavior at all times when dealing with customers, management and co-workers.
  • Must follow all manufacturing facility safety guidelines and take required safety training as necessary.
  • Must have clear, concise and accurate communications skills in English (both verbal and written).
  • Training and experience in FANUC, ABB and/or Motoman mechanical repair preferred but not required.
  • Regular hours will be between Monday-Friday 7:30am - 4:00pm.
  • Office, shop, or customer manufacturing site environment.
  • Ability to sit and work at computer for an extended period of time.
  • Ability to walk up numerous flights of stairs/ladders and/or work in tight spaces in extreme conditions as needed.
  • May work near moving mechanical parts and equipment.
  • May have to work where floors are slippery.
  • Possible weekend, holiday or evening work as needed.
  • Some travel required.

Physical requirements:
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 75 lbs.
  • This job can involve sitting or standing for extended periods of time.
  • Must have sufficient mobility, included but not limited to: bending, reaching, turning, kneeling, climbing stairs and ladders.
  • Must be able to perform two-handed work.
