Project Manager Wastewater & Water Treatment (RELO TO INDIANAPOLIS)


Position Summary

Our client is seeking an experienced Project Manager to oversee construction projects within their Water and Wastewater Treatment division. This leadership role is responsible for managing all phases of project execution, including planning, scheduling, budgeting, billing, and coordination with field teams, vendors, and clients. Projects primarily include water and wastewater treatment plants, with potential involvement in related industrial facilities. The Project Manager ensures projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and in accordance with quality standards.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Manage multiple water and wastewater construction projects from start to finish
  • Plan, coordinate, and execute treatment plant and related infrastructure projects
  • Lead and oversee project teams including Project Engineers, Superintendents, and Foremen
  • Develop, analyze, and manage CPM-based project schedules
  • Coordinate with Superintendents to ensure production goals, schedules, and safety plans are met
  • Monitor job costs, budgets, schedules, and resource allocation; proactively address risks and issues
  • Review and approve vendor, subcontractor, and customer billings to maintain project profitability
  • Maintain accurate project documentation, reporting, and project closeout records
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients and represent the company in owner progress meetings
  • Establish and enforce project objectives, policies, and procedures aligned with company standards
  • Lead project meetings including daily coordination, weekly scheduling, and monthly safety kickoffs
  • Maintain strong client relationships and resolve issues professionally
  • Collaborate with estimating and operations leadership throughout the project lifecycle
  • Provide technical oversight and guidance to resolve field and scheduling challenges

Qualifications / Requirements

  • Bachelor s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field (preferred)
  • Minimum 5 years of construction project management experience
  • Direct experience in water and/or wastewater treatment construction projects (required)
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Proven leadership ability with experience mentoring and developing project teams
  • Proficient in MS Word and Excel; experience with construction management software (HCSS, Heavy Job, Viewpoint) preferred
  • Ability to interpret technical plans, schedules, and contract documents
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement
  • Valid driver s license and reliable transportation
