Commercial Construction Project Manager
Our client is a growing commercial general contractor with a specialized focus on the design and construction of indoor sports facilities, including fieldhouses, indoor turf arenas, court complexes, and training centers. They are currently seeking a Construction Project Manager with commercial construction experience and a strong background in indoor sports facilities to join their high-performance team.
The Project Manager will lead and coordinate all aspects of commercial indoor sports facility construction projects. This includes pre-construction planning, permitting, subcontractor management, on-site coordination, cost control, and final delivery. The ideal candidate understands the unique challenges and opportunities of building large-span, high-clearance structures that house courts, fields, and specialty sports systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage all phases of construction projects, from initial concept through close-out
- Collaborate with design teams, engineers, and ownership to finalize project scope and schedule
- Develop and manage project budgets and construction schedules
- Lead pre-construction efforts including estimating, value engineering, and constructability reviews
- Select and manage subcontractors and suppliers, ensuring timely and quality performance
- Oversee daily operations with the superintendent, ensuring alignment with plans and safety protocols
- Handle RFIs, submittals, change orders, and all documentation using project management software (e.g., Procore, Buildertrend)
- Conduct regular site visits and progress meetings with stakeholders
- Ensure compliance with local building codes, ADA, safety standards, and performance specs
- Communicate clearly with clients, ownership groups, and internal teams regarding milestones, risks, and solutions
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience as a Project Manager in commercial construction
- Proven track record managing indoor sports or recreational facility projects (e.g., basketball, volleyball, soccer, multi-use gyms, turf fields)
- Familiarity with pre-engineered metal buildings (PEMB), MEP coordination, and specialty flooring systems
- Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills
- Proficiency in project management and scheduling software (e.g., MS Project, Procore, Bluebeam)
- Bachelor s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or equivalent field preferred
- OSHA 30 certification (preferred)
