Controller - Interim/Contract
Our client is seeking an experienced Controller to join their team on an interim/contract basis. The Controller will be responsible for overseeing financial operations, managing the accounting department, and providing strategic financial leadership to support the company's growth and success. The ideal candidate MUST have Property Management/Real Estate experience.
Job Overview:
The Controller will play a key role in managing and directing the company's accounting functions, financial planning, budgeting, and reporting. This position requires strong leadership skills, excellent financial acumen, and the ability to work collaboratively with various departments and stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Management:
- Oversee all aspects of the company's financial operations, including accounting, financial planning, and analysis.
- Develop and implement financial controls, policies, and procedures to safeguard company assets.
- Monitor and manage cash flow to ensure liquidity and support operational needs.
- Prepare and present financial reports, budgets, and forecasts to senior management and stakeholders.
- Team Leadership and Development:
- Lead and manage the accounting and finance team, providing guidance, training, and support.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth within the department.
- Conduct performance reviews, set performance goals, and provide feedback to team members.
- Budgeting and Forecasting:
- Lead the annual budgeting process and prepare financial forecasts.
- Monitor budget performance, analyze variances, and provide explanations and recommendations.
- Assist department heads in developing and managing their budgets.
- Compliance and Reporting:
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations, and other regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate and manage external audits and tax filings.
- Prepare and submit financial reports to senior management, board of directors, and external stakeholders.
- Strategic Planning and Analysis:
- Provide financial analysis and insights to support strategic decision-making.
- Evaluate financial performance, identify opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements.
- Assist in evaluating potential investments, acquisitions, or other business opportunities.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor s or Master s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation preferred.
- Minimum of 10+ experience in a senior accounting or finance role.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and budgeting.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
