Controller
Our client is a dynamic and growing Architectural company delivering Millwork and Hardwood design and is seeking a Controller as they continue to expand their operations.
Position Overview:
The Controller will oversee all aspects of financial management, including accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting. Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), the Controller will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial data, implementing and maintaining internal controls, and providing strategic financial guidance to senior management. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting principles, excellent leadership skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Reporting: Prepare timely and accurate financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements, in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Budgeting and Forecasting: Develop annual budgets and long-term financial forecasts in collaboration with department heads and senior management. Monitor performance against budget and provide variance analysis to identify areas for improvement.
- Cash Management: Manage cash flow by forecasting cash needs, monitoring banking activities, and optimizing cash balances to ensure liquidity while maximizing returns.
- Internal Controls: Establish and maintain robust internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. Continuously evaluate and improve internal control procedures to mitigate financial risks.
- Financial Analysis: Conduct in-depth financial analysis to support decision-making processes, including profitability analysis, cost reduction initiatives, and investment opportunities.
- Audit and Tax Compliance: Coordinate annual financial audits and tax filings, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations and standards. Serve as the primary liaison with external auditors and tax advisors.
- Team Leadership: Lead and mentor the accounting team, providing guidance and support to ensure the accurate and efficient completion of day-to-day accounting operations.
- Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements and automation to streamline financial operations and enhance efficiency.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA designation preferred.
- Thorough understanding of GAAP and financial reporting requirements.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial data and provide strategic insights.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and senior management.
- Proven leadership abilities, with a track record of developing and motivating high-performing teams.
- Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems; experience with [specific software/system] is a plus.
