About Our Client
We are partnering with a leading provider of electronic security and fire-protection systems serving commercial, industrial, and residential customers throughout East Central Indiana. Similar in scope and reliability to ADT, they design, install, service, and monitor integrated fire alarms, intrusion detection, access control, video surveillance, and life-safety systems.
The Role
As an Electronic Security Technician, you will install, program, troubleshoot, and maintain low-voltage electronic security and fire-alarm systems for a diverse client base. This is a field-based, hands-on position requiring technical aptitude, customer-service focus, and a commitment to safety and code compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Install and wire fire-alarm panels, smoke/heat detectors, pull stations, horns/strobes, and notification appliances (NFPA 72).
- Mount and configure intrusion panels, door contacts, motion sensors, glass-break detectors, keypads, and cellular/IP communicators.
- Install and align IP and analog CCTV cameras, NVRs/DVRs, access-control readers, electrified locks, and intercom systems.
- Program panels (Honeywell, DSC, Bosch, Silent Knight, Notifier, etc.) using manufacturer software and mobile apps.
- Perform preventive maintenance, battery replacements, sensitivity testing, and system inspections.
- Troubleshoot wiring faults, device failures, ground faults, and communication issues using multimeters, tone generators, and diagnostic tools.
- Complete service tickets, inspection reports, and as-built drawings in compliance with local AHJ, NEC, and NFPA standards.
- Respond to emergency service calls and participate in rotating on-call schedule (compensated).
- Train end-users on system operation and basic troubleshooting.
Qualifications Required:
- Minimum 2 years of verifiable field experience installing and servicing electronic security systems and/or fire-alarm systems (commercial or residential).
- Working knowledge of low-voltage wiring, relay logic, IP networking basics, and cellular communicators.
- Proficiency with at least one major panel brand (ADT, Honeywell, DSC, Bosch, etc.).
- Valid driver s license and clean driving record.
- Ability to pass pre-employment drug screen and background check.
- Comfortable working from ladders, scissor lifts, and in confined spaces.
Preferred (any of the following greatly strengthen candidacy):
- NICET Level I or II in Fire Alarm Systems
- Indiana state fire-alarm or burglar-alarm license
- ESA Certified Electronic Security Technician (CEST)
- Manufacturer certifications (Honeywell Pro, DSC Neo, Bosch BVMS, etc.)
- Experience with integrated systems (Lenel, Software House, Avigilon, Milestone)
