Family Services Specialist

The Family Services Specialist’s primary role is to compassionately serve and communicate with our client's families nationwide with regards to transplant-related expenses in a collaborative team setting.

The successful candidate will possess traits enabling them to purposefully engage with families, keep meticulous financial records and multi-task in an often fast-paced environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES AS TEAM MEMBER:
 
  • Interact with current and potential families thoughtfully and efficiently in written and oral formats concerning transplant-related expenses.
  • Effectively anticipate and problem solve to meet the transplant financial needs of families.
  • Review and process weekly grant payments for patient families with accounting software per organization guidelines.
  • Provide training to families regarding submission of eligible transplant expenses.
  • Assist in completion of tasks as they relate to the general operation of the office.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
 
  • Minimum of five to seven years of successful previous client relations and support experience in an office environment.
  • Ability to communicate courteously and efficiently with telephone and email correspondence.
  • Promptness and dependability essential within an 8am – 5pm, Monday - Friday office schedule.
  • Ability to interact with the public and fellow employees in a tactful and courteous manner, presenting a professional image.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize work to meet the needs of families and staff members.
  • Working knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet software, with some general accounting knowledge preferred.
  • Ability to type accurately with speed, use standard office equipment including personal computer, copier, typewriter, calculator, fax machine and telephone.
  • Proficient knowledge of English grammar, spelling and punctuation as well as the ability to perform arithmetic calculations.
  • Minimum of high school diploma with preference for post high school education / experience.
  • Ability to edit standard office letters, documents and publications.

LEVEL OF SUPERVISION AND RESPONSIBILITY:
 
  • Self-motivated ability to work well within the Family Services’ Team environment with minimal supervision required, reporting directly to department manager.

DIFFICULTY OF WORK:
  • Perform duties in a modern office environment with no unusual physical demands.  Work follows a routine full time office schedule (8am – 5pm) with extra hours required occasionally.

PERSONAL WORK RELATIONSHIPS:
 
  •  Maintains frequent contact with personnel, patients, board members and the general public for the purpose of giving and receiving assignments and information.
