Job Description

Heavy Equipment Mechanic

Our client is seeking a skilled and experienced Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join their team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the maintenance, repair, and overhaul of heavy machinery and equipment used in construction, mining, agriculture, and other industrial settings. This role requires a strong mechanical aptitude, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine maintenance and inspections on heavy equipment, including but not limited to bulldozers, excavators, loaders, cranes, and graders.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues in heavy machinery.
  • Repair and replace defective parts, components, and systems, including engines, transmissions, brakes, and hydraulic systems.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance to ensure optimal performance and longevity of equipment.
  • Use diagnostic tools and software to identify and resolve equipment malfunctions.
  • Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repair work performed.
  • Collaborate with operators and other team members to ensure equipment is operating safely and efficiently.
  • Follow all safety protocols and regulations to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Stay updated with the latest industry standards, equipment technologies, and maintenance practices.


  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training in heavy equipment mechanics is preferred.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience as a heavy equipment mechanic or similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of heavy machinery, including diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and transmissions.
  • Proficiency in using diagnostic tools, hand tools, and power tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Physical stamina and strength to perform manual labor and lift heavy objects.
  • Valid driver s license; CDL is required.
  • Certifications in heavy equipment repair and maintenance (e.g., ASE) are preferred.

Working Conditions:

  • Work is performed in a workshop setting and outdoor environments.
  • Exposure to noise, dust, fumes, and varying weather conditions.
  • Regularly required to stand, walk, bend, and reach.
  • May involve working at heights and in confined spaces.
