Manufacturing Maintenance Manager


The Manufacturing Maintenance Manager will oversee and manage the maintenance department to ensure the safe, efficient, and continuous operation of all manufacturing equipment and facilities. This role involves leading a team of maintenance technicians, managing preventive and corrective maintenance programs, and collaborating with other departments to optimize production uptime. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in industrial maintenance, excellent leadership skills, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintenance Management:
    • Oversee day-to-day maintenance operations for all manufacturing equipment, machinery, and plant facilities.
    • Develop and implement preventive and predictive maintenance programs to minimize downtime and extend equipment lifespan.
    • Schedule and prioritize maintenance tasks based on production needs, equipment availability, and safety considerations.
  • Team Leadership & Development:
    • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of maintenance technicians, ensuring adequate training and resources are provided for skill enhancement.
    • Foster a culture of teamwork, accountability, and safety within the maintenance department.
    • Conduct regular performance reviews, provide coaching, and set individual development goals for team members.
  • Troubleshooting & Problem-Solving:
    • Quickly diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, and technical issues on manufacturing equipment.
    • Implement root cause analysis (RCA) for recurring issues and develop long-term solutions to improve reliability and performance.
  • Inventory & Budget Management:
    • Manage maintenance parts inventory, ensuring essential spare parts and supplies are readily available.
    • Oversee the maintenance budget, tracking expenditures and identifying cost-saving opportunities.
    • Negotiate with suppliers and vendors for parts, equipment, and services.
  • Safety & Compliance:
    • Ensure that all maintenance activities comply with safety regulations, quality standards, and environmental policies.
    • Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments to identify hazards and implement corrective actions.
    • Lead or participate in safety training programs for maintenance staff and ensure compliance with OSHA and other relevant regulations.
  • Continuous Improvement:
    • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in maintenance processes, equipment efficiency, and overall plant operations.
    • Work closely with the production, engineering, and quality teams to support plant optimization initiatives and resolve technical issues.
  • Reporting & Documentation:
    • Maintain accurate maintenance logs, work orders, and other necessary documentation.
    • Generate and review regular maintenance reports, performance metrics, and analysis to monitor trends and make data-driven decisions.

Qualifications:

  • Education & Experience:
    • Minimum of 5 years of experience in manufacturing maintenance, with at least 2 years in a leadership or supervisory role.
    • Strong background in maintaining and troubleshooting industrial machinery, automation systems, and mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic systems.
    • Bachelor s degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related field (preferred).
  • Skills:
    • Proficient in using maintenance management software (CMMS) and Microsoft Office Suite.
    • Strong leadership and team management skills, with a focus on developing employees and fostering a positive work environment.
    • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
    • Strong knowledge of safety standards, quality control, and regulatory requirements in a manufacturing environment.
  • Certifications (Preferred):
    • Certifications such as Six Sigma, PMP, or maintenance-related certifications (e.g., CMRP, CMRT) are a plus.
  • Physical Demands:
    • Ability to lift and move heavy objects.
    • Willingness to work in varying conditions, including noisy, hot, or confined environments.
    • Availability for occasional after-hours and weekend work as needed.
