Production Planner - Scheduler (Manufacturing)
SUMMARY
Our client plans and prepares production schedules for the manufacture of industrial or commercial products by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Production Planning & Scheduling
Develop and maintain the master production schedule to establish sequence, lead times, and workflow for all manufacturing operations.
Plan and schedule fabrication, machining, assembly, and related processes in alignment with customer demand and forecast requirements.
Review new sales orders daily and adjust schedules accordingly to meet customer expectations.
Coordinate with department supervisors to confirm priorities, capacity, and realistic completion timelines.
Expedite delayed orders and adjust schedules to accommodate unforeseen disruptions.
Cross-Functional Coordination
Act as the primary liaison between Production and Sales regarding order status, priorities, and delivery commitments.
Serve as a lead member of the Sales Inventory Operations Planning (SIOP) process.
Communicate proactively with Sales when order due dates are at risk and recommend revised ship dates.
Confer regularly with supervisors to assess progress and identify potential bottlenecks.
Forecasting & Demand Planning
Monitor sales trends and proactively identify items requiring forecast or planning parameter adjustments.
Analyze historical data and collaborate with Sales to improve forecast accuracy across product lines (including Haight and Monitor).
Adjust forecast methods and planning groups when actual demand deviates from projections.
Identify shifts in ordering patterns and recommend updates to lot sizing, safety stock, or stocking strategies.
Inventory Management
Lead and coordinate full physical inventory processes.
Review and approve inventory adjustment requests, investigating root causes of discrepancies.
Identify potential sources of inventory inaccuracies and implement corrective actions.
Adjust production schedules, initiate purchase orders, or create jobs as needed to address shortages.
Communicate inventory-related impacts to Sales when customer deliveries may be affected.
Material & Purchasing Alignment
Generate and validate material requirements to ensure timely availability of purchased components.
Review system-generated purchase order suggestions and resolve unrealistic or system-driven demand spikes.
Partner with Purchasing to ensure alignment between production schedules and supplier capabilities.
Capacity & Process Analysis
Analyze production specifications, plant capacity, and labor requirements to support efficient scheduling.
Perform calculations to determine optimal manufacturing processes, tooling needs, and workforce allocation.
Prepare and distribute production reports highlighting risks to on-time delivery and material shortages.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor s degree in Supply Chain, Operations, Business, or related field preferred (or equivalent experience).
3 5+ years of experience in production planning, scheduling, or manufacturing operations.
Strong understanding of MRP/ERP systems (Epicor experience a plus).
Proven ability to analyze data, identify trends, and make sound planning decisions.
Excellent communication and coordination skills across departments.
