Location: Greater Milwaukee Area
Our client, a well-established manufacturing company specializing in casting and machining, is seeking an experienced Quality Manager to lead all quality operations at their local facility. This is a key leadership role responsible for maintaining a robust quality management system, driving continuous improvement, and ensuring the highest standards of product quality and reliability.
Position Summary
The Quality Manager will provide strategic direction to the quality team while partnering closely with manufacturing operations and engineering. This individual will champion the quality management system, oversee compliance and certification efforts, and play a critical role in new product launches and supplier development.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Lead and manage all quality activities at the Greater Milwaukee location, including supervision of 2-4 quality department employees.
- Oversee the internal audit program and external registrar audits to maintain ISO 9001:2015 certification.
- Manage the full PPAP process for new suppliers and products (including PSW, ISIR, Process Flow, PFMEA, Control Plans, and material certifications).
- Conduct GD&T reviews on new and existing parts to ensure proper measurement and equipment selection.
- Champion the CAPA program, leading root cause analysis and corrective actions for both internal and external issues.
- Maintain the calibration program using GageTrak software.
- Develop sampling procedures, data collection forms, and reporting systems for quality and reliability metrics.
- Respond quickly to production quality issues and lead cross-functional problem-solving efforts.
- Support annual budgeting for quality equipment and resources.
- Collaborate with manufacturing leadership on quality, efficiency, and manufacturability initiatives.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Experience: Minimum 3+ years in a quality leadership role within a casting and machining manufacturing environment.
- Certification: Proven experience establishing and maintaining an ISO 9001:2015 quality management system.
- Technical Expertise:
- Strong proficiency in GD&T and its application to part measurement.
- Thorough knowledge of SPC techniques.
- Experience with problem-solving tools (5-Why, Fishbone, 8D, etc.).
- Familiarity with PPAP, FMEA, Control Plans, and APQP processes.
- Software & Tools: Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Project). Experience with GageTrak is strongly preferred. Knowledge of CMM programming (Zeiss Calypso, Mitutoyo MCOSMOS, or PolyWorks) is a plus.
- Education: Bachelor s degree in Engineering or related field preferred; Associate s degree plus relevant leadership experience required.
- Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead and develop a team, with strong decision-making, organizational, and communication skills at all levels of the organization.
- Other: Six Sigma experience is a plus. Knowledge of CMMs, X-Ray, and Spectrometers is preferred.
Physical & Work Environment
- Ability to walk, stand, reach, and occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.
- Moderate noise level in a manufacturing setting.
- Must have strong vision abilities (close, distance, peripheral, depth perception).
