Mechanical Design Engineer
We are seeking a talented and innovative Mechanical Design Engineer. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and testing mechanical components and systems. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including electrical engineers, product managers, and manufacturing personnel, to ensure that designs meet customer requirements and are optimized for performance, manufacturability, and cost.
The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in mechanical design principles, proficiency in CAD software, and a passion for solving complex engineering challenges.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and Development: Create detailed mechanical designs and drawings for components, assemblies, and systems. Use CAD software (such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or CATIA) to produce 2D and 3D models.
- Product Lifecycle: Lead design from concept through prototyping, testing, and production, ensuring that designs meet product specifications, functionality, and cost targets.
- Technical Analysis: Perform simulations and analyses (e.g., stress, thermal, kinematic) to evaluate and validate design solutions. Ensure designs meet safety and performance standards.
- Collaboration: Work closely with electrical engineers, software teams, and manufacturing departments to ensure design feasibility and integration with other subsystems.
- Prototyping and Testing: Oversee the fabrication of prototypes and conduct physical tests to validate designs. Analyze test results and refine designs as needed.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to enhance designs, reduce costs, improve reliability, and increase manufacturability. Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date engineering documentation, including design specifications, test reports, and revision control.
- Quality Assurance: Ensure that all designs comply with industry standards and regulatory requirements, and participate in design reviews and product audits.
Qualifications:
- Experience: 2-5 years of professional experience in mechanical design engineering, preferably in [industry-specific field, e.g., automotive, aerospace, consumer products].
- Skills and Proficiencies:
- Strong proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, CATIA, or similar).
- Experience with FEA (Finite Element Analysis), CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics), or other simulation tools.
- Knowledge of material properties, manufacturing processes, and quality control standards.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary team environment.
- Strong communication skills (both written and verbal).
- Certifications (optional): Professional Engineer (PE) license or relevant certifications (e.g., Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing) are a plus.
