Millwork Operations Manager


As the Operations Manager for a millwork company, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing the day-to-day operations of the manufacturing processes. You will be responsible for ensuring efficiency, quality, and safety standards are met while leading a team of skilled craftsmen and coordinating with various departments to streamline production processes. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership qualities, exceptional organizational skills, and a deep understanding of millwork manufacturing.


Responsibilities:

  1. Production Oversight:
  • Supervise and coordinate all aspects of the manufacturing process, from raw material procurement to final product assembly.
    • Develop and implement production schedules to meet customer demands while optimizing resources and minimizing downtime.
    • Monitor production metrics and implement strategies to improve efficiency and reduce waste.
  1. Quality Assurance:
  • Establish and enforce quality control standards to ensure all products meet specifications and exceed customer expectations.
    • Conduct regular inspections of materials, work in progress, and finished goods to identify and address any quality issues promptly.
    • Collaborate with the quality assurance team to implement corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives.
  1. Team Leadership:
  • Lead, mentor, and motivate a team of craftsmen, supervisors, and support staff to achieve production targets and uphold quality standards.
    • Provide guidance and training to employees on proper manufacturing techniques, safety protocols, and equipment operation.
    • Foster a positive work environment that encourages teamwork, innovation, and accountability.
  1. Resource Management:
  • Manage inventory levels of raw materials, components, and finished products to ensure adequate supplies for production.
    • Coordinate with purchasing and logistics departments to optimize supply chain efficiency and minimize costs.
    • Oversee maintenance schedules for machinery and equipment to ensure uninterrupted operation.
  1. Safety Compliance:
  • Enforce safety protocols and procedures to create a safe working environment for all employees.
    • Conduct regular safety inspections, risk assessments, and training sessions to prevent accidents and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
    • Investigate and report any workplace incidents or near misses, implementing corrective actions as necessary.
  1. Continuous Improvement:
  • Identify opportunities for process optimization, cost reduction, and workflow enhancements to drive continuous improvement initiatives.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement lean manufacturing principles and best practices.
    • Analyze production data and trends to make informed decisions and adapt strategies accordingly.

Qualifications:


  • Proven experience in operations management, preferably in a millwork or woodworking manufacturing environment.
  • Strong leadership abilities with a track record of effectively managing teams and driving performance improvements.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Solid understanding of manufacturing processes, quality control principles, and safety regulations.
  • Proficiency in using ERP systems, production planning software, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to liaise effectively with employees, suppliers, and customers.
  • Lean Six Sigma certification is a plus.
