Manufacturing Production Supervisor

As a production supervisor in plastics manufacturing, your role is crucial in overseeing the manufacturing process and ensuring efficient production of plastic products. Here are some key responsibilities and tasks associated with this role:

Supervising Production Activities:
  • You will be responsible for managing and overseeing the production floor, ensuring that production targets are met, and maintaining high-quality standards. This involves coordinating with machine operators, technicians, and other staff to optimize production processes.
  • Planning and Scheduling: You will create production schedules, taking into account factors such as product demand, available resources, and equipment capabilities. Efficient planning helps maximize output while minimizing downtime and costs.
  • Quality Control: Maintaining quality standards is essential in plastics manufacturing. You will implement quality control measures, monitor product quality at various stages of production, and take corrective actions as needed. This includes conducting inspections and working closely with the quality assurance team.
  • Training and Supervising Staff: As a supervisor, you will train new employees, provide guidance to the production team, and ensure adherence to safety protocols and standard operating procedures (SOPs). Additionally, you will monitor staff performance, address any issues or conflicts, and encourage a positive work environment.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Overseeing the maintenance and repair of machinery and equipment is important for uninterrupted production. You will coordinate with maintenance technicians to schedule regular equipment maintenance, troubleshoot any operational issues, and minimize downtime.
  • Inventory Management: You will collaborate with the inventory control team to maintain optimal levels of raw materials and finished goods. This involves monitoring inventory, placing orders, and ensuring proper storage and organization of materials.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identifying areas for process improvement and implementing changes to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and increase productivity is an ongoing responsibility. You may lead or participate in improvement projects, such as implementing lean manufacturing principles or introducing new technologies.
  • Safety and Compliance: Ensuring a safe working environment for all employees and complying with health, safety, and environmental regulations are vital. You will enforce safety protocols, conduct safety training, and address any safety concerns promptly.

Effective communication, problem-solving skills, and the ability to make quick decisions are essential for success in this role. You should also have a strong understanding of plastics manufacturing processes, quality control methods, and relevant industry regulations.
