Job Description

Commercial Construction Project Engineer

Our client is seeking a talented and motivated Commercial Construction Project Engineer to join their team. The Project Engineer will work closely with the Project Manager and other team members to support the successful planning, execution, and completion of commercial construction projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in engineering, excellent organizational skills, and a passion for delivering high-quality construction projects on time and within budget.

Responsibilities:

  1. Technical Support: Provide technical support to the Project Manager and construction team throughout all phases of the project. Assist with the interpretation of design drawings, specifications, and other technical documents.
  2. Project Planning and Coordination: Assist in the development of project plans, schedules, and budgets. Coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth project execution.
  3. Quality Control: Conduct regular inspections and quality assurance checks to ensure that construction activities comply with project requirements, building codes, and industry standards.
  4. Document Control: Maintain accurate and up-to-date project documentation, including drawings, RFIs (Requests for Information), submittals, change orders, and meeting minutes. Ensure that all documentation is properly organized and accessible to project team members.
  5. Progress Monitoring: Track project progress against established schedules and milestones. Provide regular updates to the Project Manager on project status, issues, and potential risks.
  6. Cost Management: Assist in tracking project expenses and monitoring costs against the budget. Identify cost-saving opportunities and propose value engineering solutions where applicable.
  7. Subcontractor Management: Assist in the procurement and management of subcontractors and suppliers. Review subcontractor proposals, negotiate contracts, and ensure that subcontractors adhere to project requirements and timelines.
  8. Safety Compliance: Promote and maintain a safe working environment on the construction site. Conduct safety inspections, identify potential hazards, and ensure that all safety protocols and regulations are followed.
  9. Client Communication: Collaborate with the Project Manager to communicate effectively with clients and other project stakeholders. Address client inquiries, provide project updates, and ensure client satisfaction throughout the construction process.
  10. Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with project team members, including architects, engineers, contractors, and vendors, to resolve technical issues, coordinate project activities, and achieve project goals.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
  • Previous experience in commercial construction or related field preferred.
  • Strong technical knowledge of construction methods, materials, and building codes.
  • Proficiency in construction management software and tools (e.g., Procore, Bluebeam, AutoCAD).
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks concurrently.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality work.
  • Willingness to travel to construction sites and attend meetings as required.
