Our client is a well-established heavy civil construction company specializing in highway, bridge, and commercial site development projects. Recognized as an industry leader, they deliver high-quality work safely, on time, and within budget across multiple states, including Indiana and Kentucky. With a strong commitment to safety, employee development, and client satisfaction, our client maintains a modern equipment fleet and in-house capabilities to execute complex infrastructure projects.
They are seeking an experienced Project Executive to lead their growing operations in the Louisville, Kentucky market. This senior leadership role reports directly to executive management and is responsible for overseeing a team of Project Managers and Superintendents, managing a portfolio of heavy civil projects, and driving overall market performance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic leadership and direction for all projects in the Louisville market, ensuring alignment with company goals for safety, quality, schedule, and profitability.
- Manage, mentor, and develop a team of Project Managers, Superintendents, and support staff, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
- Oversee project financial performance, including budgeting, forecasting, cost control, change management, and P&L responsibility across multiple concurrent projects.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, owners, subcontractors, and stakeholders in the Kentucky market.
- Collaborate with estimating and preconstruction teams on bid pursuits, project planning, and risk assessment.
- Ensure compliance with all safety protocols, regulatory requirements, and company standards.
- Identify and pursue business development opportunities to grow the Louisville market presence.
- Monitor project progress, resolve issues proactively, and report performance metrics to senior leadership.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field (advanced degree or PE preferred but not required).
- Minimum of 12+ years of progressive experience in heavy civil construction, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role overseeing multiple Project Managers and large-scale projects ($20M+).
- Proven track record managing highway, bridge, grading, paving, sewer/water systems, or similar heavy civil infrastructure projects.
- Strong financial acumen with experience in project budgeting, cost control, and contract negotiation.
- Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to build, mentor, and motivate high-performing teams.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities, with experience interfacing with public agencies (e.g., KYTC, INDOT) and private clients.
- Proficiency in project management software (e.g., HCSS, Procore, Primavera) and Microsoft Office suite.
- Willingness to travel within the Louisville market and occasionally to the corporate office in Southern Indiana.
