Job Description
Quality Engineer
Our client is seeking a Quality Engineer for a global packaging manufacturer in the Birmingham, Alabama area. This a developmental role to progressively grow internally and report directly to the Plant Manager. Ideally seeking a sharp engineer with 2+ years of industrial manufacturing experience and the ability to learn (SQF) Safety Quality Food and maintain quality manufacturing safety standards according to federal regulations.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Report to the Plant Manager, the Quality Leader will be tasked with maintaining SQF Food Packaging Manufacturing standards according to govern regulations.
- Maintain quality and SQF training records.
- Approve and verify quality specifications and machine centerlines for production processes.
- Schedule and maintains calibration frequencies and records for production equipment.
- Conduct audits and perform continuous improvement analysis.
- Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Develop work instructions and document and train production personnel.
- Maintain waste streams and disposal according to EPA standards.
- Uphold Environmental Permits including Air, Water, and Radiation.
- Optimize efficiencies and drive efforts to reduce waste and downtime and increase production availability.
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's degree in Business or Engineering (Industrial or Chemistry preferred)
- Two (2) or more years of industrial manufacturing experience.
- Prior experience in food packaging is a plus
- Client focused mentality with strong interpersonal skills (innovative, resourceful, sense of initiative, able to make decisions)
