Senior Construction Project Manager (K-12 Experience)
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Construction Project Manager with a strong background in K-12 construction projects to join our team. As a Senior Construction Project Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing the successful delivery of K-12 construction projects from initiation to completion. You will work closely with clients, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and other stakeholders to ensure that projects are executed on time, within budget, and in compliance with all relevant regulations and quality standards. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in K-12 construction, excellent project management skills, and a proven track record of delivering successful projects.
Responsibilities:
- Project Planning and Execution: Lead the planning, development, and execution of K-12 construction projects from start to finish, including defining project scope, goals, and deliverables. Ensure adherence to project schedules, budgets, quality standards, and safety regulations.
- Client and Stakeholder Management: Establish and maintain strong relationships with clients, architects, engineers, and other stakeholders. Regularly communicate project updates, manage expectations, and address any concerns or issues promptly.
- Budget and Cost Control: Develop and monitor project budgets, forecasts, and financial reports. Implement effective cost control measures and identify opportunities for cost savings without compromising quality or safety.
- Contract Management: Review and negotiate contracts, subcontracts, and change orders. Ensure compliance with contractual obligations and resolve any contractual disputes or issues that may arise during the project.
- Team Leadership: Provide strong leadership and direction to project teams, including architects, engineers, contractors, and subcontractors. Foster a collaborative and productive work environment, ensuring effective communication, coordination, and teamwork.
- Risk Management: Identify and mitigate project risks, such as unforeseen site conditions, design changes, and regulatory issues. Develop contingency plans and implement risk mitigation strategies to minimize project disruptions.
- Quality Assurance: Implement quality control procedures and monitor construction activities to ensure compliance with specifications, standards, and building codes. Conduct regular inspections and address any deficiencies or non-conformities promptly.
- Schedule Management: Develop and maintain project schedules, including critical path analysis and milestone tracking. Monitor progress, identify potential delays, and implement strategies to keep projects on track and meet deadlines.
- Change Management: Evaluate and manage project changes, including scope changes, design modifications, and schedule adjustments. Assess the impact of changes on cost, schedule, and quality, and communicate changes to relevant stakeholders.
- Lessons Learned and Best Practices: Continuously evaluate project performance, identify lessons learned, and implement improvements in project management processes and practices. Share best practices and provide mentorship to junior project management staff.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, architecture, or a related field (preferred).
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in construction project management, with a focus on K-12 projects.
- In-depth knowledge and understanding of K-12 construction processes, regulations, and best practices.
- Proven track record of successfully delivering K-12 construction projects on time and within budget.
- Strong financial acumen and experience in budgeting, forecasting, and cost control.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
- Strong negotiation and contract management abilities.
- Proficient in project management software and tools.
- Sound knowledge of building codes, permits, and regulatory requirements related to K-12 construction.
- Ability to analyze complex problems and make sound decisions.
- PMP certification or other relevant project management certifications (desired).
- Willingness to travel to project sites, as required.
