Job Description

Staff Accountant
Our client is a leading construction company dedicated to delivering high-quality projects with a commitment to excellence. As they continue to grow, they are seeking a skilled Staff Accountant to join their finance team and contribute to the success of construction projects.

Responsibilities:

  1. Project Cost Accounting:
    • Monitor and analyze project costs, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
    • Collaborate with project managers to review budget variances and provide explanations for discrepancies.
    • Track and report on project financial performance, identifying areas for cost optimization.

  2. General Ledger Maintenance:
    • Record and reconcile financial transactions in the general ledger.
    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, ensuring compliance with accounting principles.
    • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.

  3. Accounts Payable and Receivable:
    • Manage accounts payable functions, including processing invoices, verifying expenses, and issuing payments.
    • Oversee accounts receivable processes, including invoicing and collections.

  4. Financial Reporting:
    • Prepare and analyze financial reports for management, highlighting key financial metrics and trends.
    • Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and forecasts.

  5. Compliance and Regulations:
    • Ensure compliance with construction industry regulations and accounting standards.
    • Collaborate with external auditors during periodic audits.

  6. Financial Analysis:
    • Conduct financial analysis to support decision-making processes.
    • Assist in identifying opportunities for cost reduction and process improvement.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in construction accounting.
  • Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Proficient in using accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication and collaboration abilities.
