Superintendent, Multi-Family
Regional Travel, Indiana, Ohio, & Kentucky
We are seeking a dynamic and energetic Superintendent to oversee and manage multi-family construction projects across various locations. Company is based in Indianapolis and does work throughout IN, OH and KY. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in managing ground-up construction projects, particularly in the multi-family residential sector. As a Traveling Superintendent, you will be responsible for ensuring the timely and successful completion of projects, maintaining safety standards, managing on-site teams, and fostering client and subcontractor relationships. This role requires frequent travel to job sites across the country, often for extended periods, depending on project schedules.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Oversight & Management:
- Lead day-to-day operations on multiple multi-family construction sites, ensuring the efficient execution of each project.
- Review and interpret project plans, specifications, and schedules to ensure adherence to project timelines, quality standards, and budgetary constraints.
- Ensure construction activities are completed safely, on time, and within budget while meeting or exceeding client expectations.
- Team Leadership:
- Supervise and direct field personnel, subcontractors, and vendors to ensure effective communication and collaboration throughout the project.
- Conduct regular site inspections to assess progress, quality of work, and compliance with building codes and safety regulations.
- Provide training, mentorship, and guidance to on-site staff, ensuring that team members are working efficiently and safely.
- Quality Control & Safety:
- Enforce strict adherence to safety policies and procedures to maintain a safe working environment, mitigating risks and preventing accidents.
- Perform quality control inspections to ensure that all work meets or exceeds established standards and project specifications.
- Address any quality issues or discrepancies promptly to maintain project integrity.
- Client & Stakeholder Communication:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, architects, engineers, and other project stakeholders, maintaining clear and open lines of communication.
- Provide regular updates on project progress, budget, timeline, and any challenges encountered.
- Resolve issues related to subcontractors, vendors, or site conditions in a professional and timely manner.
- Scheduling & Coordination:
- Develop and manage project schedules, ensuring timely delivery of materials, labor, and equipment.
- Coordinate and schedule subcontractors and vendors to ensure that all work is completed on time and in accordance with project milestones.
- Documentation & Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of daily activities, site conditions, work performed, and any issues or delays that arise.
- Prepare and submit regular progress reports to project managers, including updates on work completed, safety inspections, and change orders.
- Ensure all necessary documentation (permits, inspections, change orders, etc.) is filed in compliance with local and company requirements.
- Travel & Site Rotation:
- Travel to various job sites as needed across the country, often for extended periods. Each assignment will vary based on project timelines.
- Adapt to new locations and conditions, managing multiple projects simultaneously and transitioning between sites efficiently.
Qualifications:
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Superintendent in multi-family or residential construction, with proven expertise in managing large-scale projects.
- Skills:
- Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
- Excellent knowledge of construction practices, building codes, and safety regulations.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, plans, and specifications.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and the capacity to manage unforeseen challenges on-site.
- Education: Bachelor s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field is preferred but not required.
- Certifications: OSHA 30-Hour Certification, First Aid/CPR certification, and any other relevant certifications are preferred.
- Travel: Ability to travel extensively and work at multiple job sites across the country. Flexible with relocation and travel schedules.
- Physical Requirements: Must be able to walk job sites, inspect work, and be active in a physically demanding role.
