Job Description
Job Title: System Administrator
Scope
The System Administrator ensures the stable operation of computer networks and infrastructure. This role involves planning, developing, installing, configuring, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing network hardware, servers, desktops/laptops, software, and communication links. The individual will analyze and resolve end-user hardware and software issues promptly and accurately, providing end-user training as needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and prioritize the design, maintenance, development, and evaluation of infrastructure systems, including virtualized servers, LANs, WANs, Internet, intranet, security, wireless implementations, cloud-based productivity suites, and more.
- Oversee installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of end-user workstation hardware, software, and peripheral devices.
- Research network products, services, protocols, and standards to support procurement and development efforts.
- Manage servers, including email, print, and backup servers, along with their associated operating systems and software.
- Administer security solutions, including firewalls, next-generation antivirus, and intrusion detection systems.
- Manage network hardware and equipment, such as routers, switches, and UPSs.
- Collaborate with help desk technicians to implement and perform problem management.
- Work with managed service providers to ensure proper monitoring and escalation of issues.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Physical Demands
- Ability to perform physical tasks including climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.
- Ability to sit for extended periods and interact with computers, telephones, and other electronic media.
- Must possess visual acuity to document records.
- Ability to lift up to 20 pounds.
- Availability to work extended hours, including daily overtime and occasional weekends.
Qualifications
- Bachelor s Degree Required.
- 5+ years of IT industry experience, focusing on infrastructure operations and driving continuous improvement in enterprise environments.
- 2+ years of full-time technical experience in maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, deployment, upgrades, enhancements, and configuration of hardware, software, and operating systems in a networked production environment (PC and Macintosh).
- 2+ years of experience supporting, troubleshooting, and installing productivity software, virtualization platforms, cloud-based suites, and directory services (e.g., user management, group policies, file replication).
- Proficiency with enterprise-grade hardware, modern operating systems, antivirus solutions, VPNs, system management tools, unified communications, and scripting (e.g., PowerShell).
- SCCM experience.
- Professional certifications are a plus.
- High sense of urgency and commitment to speed-to-market.
- Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, troubleshooting, prioritization, self-motivation, analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Excellent research skills with the ability to evaluate options and present recommendations to leadership.
- Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, adapt to changing priorities, and learn new technologies quickly.
- Positive, constructive attitude with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and responsibilities effectively.
- Comfortable working with individuals of varying technical skill levels.
