Our client is a leading construction firm specializing in multi-family residential projects. They are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Traveling Multi-Family Construction Superintendent to join their team and oversee construction projects across various locations.
Position Overview: The Traveling Construction Superintendent will be responsible for managing and overseeing the day-to-day operations of multi-family construction sites. This role requires extensive travel to different project locations, ensuring that projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in multi-family construction, excellent leadership skills, and the ability to adapt to different work environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Oversight: Supervise and manage all on-site construction activities for multi-family projects, ensuring compliance with project plans, specifications, and safety standards.
- Team Leadership: Lead and coordinate the work of subcontractors, laborers, and other construction personnel. Provide guidance, motivation, and performance feedback.
- Schedule Management: Develop and maintain project schedules, ensuring timely completion of tasks and milestones. Address any delays or issues promptly.
- Quality Control: Conduct regular inspections to ensure the highest quality of workmanship and adherence to project specifications. Address and resolve any quality issues.
- Budget Management: Monitor project expenses and ensure adherence to budgetary constraints. Review and approve subcontractor invoices and change orders.
- Safety Compliance: Implement and enforce safety protocols and procedures on-site. Conduct safety meetings and inspections to ensure a safe working environment.
- Communication: Serve as the primary point of contact between the company, clients, and subcontractors. Provide regular updates on project progress, issues, and resolutions.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate project records, including daily logs, progress reports, and inspection reports. Ensure all necessary documentation is completed and submitted on time.
Qualifications:
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in construction management, with a focus on multi-family residential projects. Experience in a traveling role is highly desirable.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field preferred. Relevant certifications (e.g., OSHA, PMP) are a plus.
- Skills: Strong knowledge of construction processes, methods, and best practices. Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Technical Proficiency: Proficient in construction management software and Microsoft Office Suite. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and construction documents.
- Travel Requirements: Willingness and ability to travel frequently to various project sites, which may involve extended stays away from home.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to work in various weather conditions and navigate construction sites. Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
